About a year ago my fiancé Becky and I started planning our big day, and about 6 months ago I started planning a new Dynamics NAV implementation project. Both of these “projects” were to Go-Live at the beginning of November.

Becky and I formed a great team and set about planning the perfect wedding: booking the venue; the entertainment; the celebrant; choosing the flowers; the menu; designing the invites; the floor plan, etc. Making sure every little detail was covered so we would start our time as husband and wife with the party of our lives.

Meanwhile between 9 and 5, the project team were planning the perfect implementation: scheduling resources; making sure all the data was setup; all customisations were complete and tested; and users were trained and ready to go. Making sure every little detail was covered so the client’s business would have a smooth transition into life with a new and improved system.

In the end the wedding was the party of our lives that we had hoped for and ‘went live’ without a hitch. So while I was lying on the beach enjoying a cold Fiji Bitter, the rest of the project team were enjoying a smooth and successful implementation Go-Live. Whether it is my wedding day or an implementation at work, I have a passion for perfection and I believe that if there is great attention to detail and the work is done as a team, chances are that things will go to plan.

So now the honeymoon is over, what’s next? Maybe a baby in the next year or two? or perhaps an upgrade to Dynamics NAV 2013?
