The consignment card allows for items across documents of the same source type to be packed into multiple packages and grouped together for easy dispatching or tracking.
Creating a package will auto-generate a consignment number, or you can assign and pack your document lines against an existing consignment number. You can view all consignments and their current status from the Consignment List page.
Items on a document can be grouped into packages in many combinations. This can be done in several ways:
Packing by document lines
Packing by document lines is useful for instantly packing your goods in full. You can pack each document line into a new or existing package.
Using the Pack Lines action
- Select the lines you wish to pack.
- Select the Pack Lines… action.
- Select the Packaging Option:
- Create New Package prompts you to select the Package Unit of Measure for the new package.
- Assign to Existing Package prompts you to select the Package No. to assign the lines to. (Note: You can only assign to a package that exists within the Consignment).
Using the Pack-It line fields
- Select the document line you wish to pack.
- Specify the Package No. of the Package you wish to create. This will automatically pack the entire document line into the new Package and generate a consignment number.
To modify the quantity of the item packed, drill-through to the Package Lines page by selecting Qty. Packed on the lines.
Create packages using the Consignment document
You can manually create a consignment by using the Consignment action on the document header. This will open a Consignment card which lists the related packages and package lines. The card provides visibility of what is packed within the consignment and allows you to create packages. Information modified on the Consignment will sync back to all the source documents listed within the consignment. You must pack all of a document’s lines into the same consignment. The Consignment No. is visible on the document header and each packed line.
The Lines section shows all item lines from documents that have the consignment number assigned. When the Customer, Ship-To Address, and Shipping Agent details all match, multiple documents can have the same consignment number assigned. To view which Consignments are compatible with the order, drill down into the Consignment No. list. The consignment number will appear red if it does not match and blue if it does.
Packing from Warehouse Shipments
The process of packing from a warehouse shipment is the same as the other documents, except that each warehouse shipment line can have its own Consignment No. assigned.
The warehouse shipment header initialises the shipping details for the consignment, however this is editable from the consignment page. The consignment information will only sync back to the source document header after posting the warehouse shipment.
Automatic Item Packing
Items that have been setup for easy packing can be packed in just one click, see Setting up Items for Easy Packing.
- Locate and open the Document you wish to pack.
- Select the Pack It action from the header. This automatically creates packages and packs the document lines according to the item setup. This will assign a consignment number to the document.
